Convert time between world time zones and see live world clocks
A time zone converter is a tool that converts a date and time from one time zone to another. The Earth is divided into 24 major time zones, each offset from Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) by a whole or half hour. DST (Daylight Saving Time) adds another layer of complexity — some countries shift clocks forward by 1 hour in summer. A reliable time zone converter handles all these nuances automatically.
Calculator Expert's Time Zone Converter also shows live current time in major world cities so you can instantly see what time it is anywhere in the world.
UTC-12 (Baker Island) → UTC-8 (US West Coast) → UTC-5 (US East Coast) → UTC+0 (London) → UTC+1 (Paris/Berlin) → UTC+3 (Moscow/Nairobi) → UTC+4 (Dubai) → UTC+5:30 (India) → UTC+8 (China/Singapore) → UTC+9 (Japan) → UTC+10 (Sydney) → UTC+12 (Auckland). India is unique in using a 30-minute offset (UTC+5:30).
Remote workers scheduling meetings across countries. International teams coordinating stand-up calls. Travellers planning arrivals and connections. Students attending online lectures hosted abroad. Traders monitoring overseas market opening times (NYSE, LSE, NSE). Gamers coordinating with players in different countries. Live event organizers broadcasting globally. Customer support teams handling international queries.
To convert manually: find the UTC offset for both locations. Subtract the source offset from the time to get UTC. Add the target offset. For India (IST, UTC+5:30) to New York (EST, UTC-5): subtract 10 hours and 30 minutes. So 6:00 PM IST = 7:30 AM EST the same day. Remember DST changes these values for affected countries.
Daylight Saving Time (DST) is a practice of setting clocks forward by 1 hour during warmer months to make better use of daylight. The US, EU, and Australia observe DST. India, China, Japan, and most of Asia do NOT observe DST. This means the offset between IST and EST changes from 10.5 hours in winter to 9.5 hours in summer (US summer). This tool uses the JavaScript Intl API which handles DST automatically.
Enter the date and time you want to convert. Select the source time zone and target time zone. Click Convert to see the result. The live world clock section at the top shows current time in 6 major cities and updates automatically. Use this for scheduling international meetings, travel planning, or understanding global market hours.
This tool supports approximately 16 major time zones. It uses your device's JavaScript Intl API for conversion which handles DST automatically. Historical DST changes (before 1970) may not be accurate. Time zones that have recently changed (e.g., political boundary changes) may not be updated immediately. For aviation or legal applications requiring exact precision, consult official time zone databases (IANA/Olson).
