Understanding These Statistics
Mean is the average - the sum of all values divided by how many there are. Median is the middle value when the data is sorted (or the average of the two middle values if there's an even count). Mode is the value (or values) that appear most often. Range is the difference between the largest and smallest value, a quick measure of spread. Standard deviation gives a more precise measure of how spread out the data is around the mean - shown here for both population and sample interpretations.
